What is Herpes Simplex?
Herpes simplex begins as a group of small red bumps that blister. Itching and burning of the affected area precede this. The blisters begin to dry up after a few days, and form a yellow crust. The crust then falls off and the redness slowly goes away. The entire process takes about 10-14 days. Please see the following phases of this virus.

- Area gets warm and painful; tingling is associated with this first stage.

- Phase 4 - Vesicle
- Colorless, fluid-filled blisters start to develop.
- Phase 5 - Postule
- At this stage a clear liquid becomes yellow and pus forms.
- Phase 6 - Crust
- A yellowish crust forms on the affected area.
- Phase 7 - Scab
- Area becomes reddish- and dry. Area itches.
- Phase 8 - Healing
- Pain disappears, the scab falls off.
The Herpes Infection:
Herpes infections are very common. It is estimated that nine out of ten people have been exposed to herpes. Many people are infected and are completely unaware of it, thus spreading this virus becomes an imminent problem.
How is the virus spread?
Spreading occurs by close physical contact between an infected and a previously uninfected person. Infection is most commonly acquired as a baby or infant from contact with relatives (kissing).
